Layout requirements

The book manufacturing process begins with a layout which you may have already prepared. In this case it is to meet the following requirements. It takes two separate files: one is for the block with the text, the other is for the cover. The block artwork file specifications: PDF file provided page by page, CMYK or Grayscale, all fonts PDF embedded, 300 dpi min. image resolution.

Artwork file specifications:

a separate PDF file in a spread; text printing is possible on the spine over 10 mm wide, with the letters’ height 4 mm smaller than the spine’s width; small fonts and lines must be of the same colour;

The image resolution is 300 dpi min.

Binding

  1. It serves to get the sheets together and add the cover to the assembly. As there is a lot of fastening types, you will be asked to indicate which one you want. Depending on the specifics of your publication you can choose:
  2. Laminated cardboard hardbacks for which digital or offset printing is used.
  3. Vinyl hardbacks with embossed or stamped images.
  4. Paper backs glued to the bodies by roughing.
  5. Integrated adhesion involving two laminated board sheets.

Hardback involves a number of other elements to join the cover and the body together, including:

  • end-leaf is a thick folded sheet with one side adhered onto the cardboard and with the edge of the other side adhered to the front page;
  • gauze glued over the spine;
  • tailband – a narrow ribbon made of white or colour cloth.

Regardless of the size and complexity, we offer quick and easy pickup and delivery of your order providing great customer service.

Price

The price is an important variable our customers look at. The final price is calculated based on the following parameters:

  1. Format. The standard sizes are A4 (297*210mm) and A5 (148*210mm)
  2. Fastening. Hardbacks are much more expensive than paperbacks.
  3. Cover. White paper is for colour artworks, offset is for black and white. A more expensive option is leather-like vinyl.
  4. Pages. They can be black and white (the cheapest type), colour or mixed.
  5. Circulation. The greater the run, the lower the price per copy.
  6. Deadlines. The cost of book publishing is strictly individual. There is always a way to save. We have a range of material stocks and various printing options that enable you to achieve the final result you want. Choose your format, size and quantity.
